Why Eyelet Works for Casual Chic
Eyelet has built-in texture and detail that instantly makes an outfit more interesting. It’s one of those fabrics that looks like you made more of an effort than you actually did (don’t you love that?). Whether it’s in a crisp white, a soft pastel, or even a bold, clear spring color, eyelet makes an everyday jeans outfit feel just a little more special.

How to Wear Eyelet Casually—But Stylishly with Jeans
1. Experiment with Jean Styles
You can wear an eyelet top with chinos, shorts, or even a denim shirt, but it always looks fabulous with relaxed, casual jeans. For example, a white or pastel eyelet top with a pair of faded straight-leg or cropped jeans is perfect in warm weather. If you prefer a different style of jeans or a different eyelet color, that’s fine too.
2. Balance Sweet with Structure
Eyelet tops are dainty and can seem a bit junior if they have a lot of ruffles or big puff sleeves. The solution is to either choose a more tailored top or balance out a soft, frilly eyelet top with the more structured style of jeans like a crisp straight leg or flare.
3. Keep the Accessories Simple
Let the beautiful texture of the eyelet speak for itself. Wear simple jewelry like clean gold hoops, an elegant watch, or a delicate pendant with your eyelet top and jeans. You want to enhance the look, not weigh it down or make it look too busy.
4. Layer Lightly
A soft denim jacket, linen blazer, or lightweight cardigan is great for layering. These add polish, but you still look friendly and approachable.
5. Try Unexpected Colors
Don’t feel like you have to stick to white eyelet. Navy, coral, and yellow eyelet tops can be just as versatile and add a little modern edge to a causal jeans look.
6. Go Monochrome for Polish
An all-white or all-beige outfit that includes an eyelet top or eyelet-trimmed pants can look very sophisticated. Raffia accessories or a pop of color in your shoes or earrings adds a pop of excitement and energy.

How to Style a White Eyelet Shirt
A crisp, white eyelet shirt is a fantastic piece to have in your closet. It’s versatile because you can style it in a few different ways.
You can wear a white eyelet top tucked into jeans with a metallic gold or silver belt. You can also half-tuck your shirt—for example, a white eyelet shirt with a modern circular pattern worn with shorts. Or, wear an eyelet shirt untucked and open like a jacket over a white tee shirt, tank top, or camisole.

Styling a Peach Eyelet Shirt
Bright saturated colors are trending, even when it comes to eyelet tops! This bold peach shirt is a modern way to wear this traditional fabric. I’ve paired this bold eyelet shirt with this trendy high-rise, straight legs. Natural woven accessories like these beachy slides and this straw purse give this eyelet outfit a laid-back summer look.
Bright yellow eyelet tops are also very pretty in summer.
What to Wear Under an Eyelet Top?
If you’re not sure what to wear under an eyelet top, you have a few choices. Sometimes, all you need is a beige or nude bra that disappears into your skin, and the top suddenly isn’t see-through.
This usually works if the eyelet pinholes are fairly small. If the pinholes are medium-large, try a nude shapewear camisole, which I typically wear. You could also wear a camisole or tank top in a nude shade or the same color as the top. For example, check out a purple tank top with a purple eyelet shirt.

In a recent email you showed us your new brows, they look really good! Can you tell me if they were done use which technique, powdered or? Thanks, I would like to get mine done to make my morning eyebrow routine simpler, and hopefully find a great eyebrow technician!
Hi Louise, I had powder brows done, which are semi-permanent, which means they fade over time. They are softer ombre brows as compared to microbladed brows -so more natural. I went for the first session, and you come out of that with thicker, darker brows. They fade and shrink to a nice size, and you come back a month later for a light touch-up just to fill in the patchiness. In my case, I opted not to do the touch-up because they looked good and weren’t so patchy. But I’m sure in 6 months, they will have faded, and I will want to touch them up. That’s fine. I’d rather go slow and get used to them. I had skinny brows for so long it’s taken me a bit to adjust, but everyone seems to love them, and I do find my eyes look bigger. I hardly have to wear any eye makeup! I’m happy.
I love eyelet. I found a tiny one in XS at Kohl, also in green, lined from Draper James if any petites need one. The eyelet ones from Loft are also pretty. I got the lilac and green ones in the mail from last week’s sale. The draper James one is green and white, almost with a print, and Loft green is solid and called clover. I love your red one and am off to check it out. Bonnie
Hi Bonnie,The red is my favorite too. I don’t think I have ever seen a red eyelet top before, and I adore that wrap style. That is one beautiful top. Your others sound great too! Thanks for dropping by! Cheers, Deb
