Go for an Autumn Color

Falling leaves and cooler temperatures make it easy to visualize the most flattering colors for a Fall Mother of the Bride dress. This deep, muted eggplant shade is a gorgeous harvest shade that blends perfectly into a Fall color scheme.

The cowl neck and embellished waist on this gorgeous eggplant gown make it a fashion-forward choice that will particularly appeal to a mother of the bride or groom with a more modern style sensibility. The neckline is a real head-turner!

A bonus is that a slight stretch in the fabric makes this a comfortable dress, and keeps it from wrinkling. You’ll dance all night in this dress!

Consider Weight and Texture

Fall brings with it heavier fabrics and rich textures such as velvet and lace, so keep this in mind when shopping for a Fall Mother of the Bride dress.

This elegant one-shoulder Mother of the Bride gown is a gorgeous choice

The stunning sleeves make this dress an ideal choice for gals our age since lace provides some discreet arm coverage.

The one-shoulder neckline also helps balance larger hips and thighs, making it perfect for pear-shaped women.

Sparkle and Glitz Are Welcome

Sparkly dresses, shoes, gorgeous jewelry, and embellished bags are all part of Fall’s rich allure. For example, this floral beaded gown has elegant hand-beaded accents that steal the show.

With a dress like this, I like keeping the accessories simple and balanced. The heels, clutch, and earrings complement the dress beautifully without stealing its thunder.

Black is always an option.

Black works any time of year and feels especially right for the Mother of the Bride. For a formal evening wedding, I recommend this elegant evening gown. Deceptively simple, an A-line skirt with a ruffle front slit is flattering to all body types. The beaded neckline is a subtle addition that adds to the visual interest of the dress.

For a formal wedding, feel free to up the bling factor. Here, I’ve paired it with an ornate crystal earrings that complement the subtle adornment on the neckline. Get ready for compliments on how stunning you look in this dress!

  3. Hello, The deep, muted eggplant dress. Where can you get the dress? Is it a David bridal dress/

  4. I am the mother of the groom. I need help with a fall wedding attire
The bridesmaids are wearing slate blue dresses from David’s Bridal. I have picked a dress that is dusty blue.
Should I stay away from blue and stick to burgundy or gray? The guys are wearing gray suits.

    1. Hi Ann, Is there enough difference between your blue and the slate blue, or will you blend in too much? If you are worried about looking like one of the bridesmaids, then o for Burgundy. I hope that helps.
      Cheers, Deborah

  5. I have a question. I will be attending a formal wedding. I plan to wear a black knee-length dress. Are black hose or off-black hose a no-no? My legs are too white for no hose. I am wearing black heels. Thanks for your help

    1. Hi Barbara,
Ultra sheer black nylons are perfectly acceptable. In fact, for a formal wedding, I would wear them over bare legs. Black heels would be perfect with them. Theall black will create a nice, long, lean line and make you look tall and thin. Have fun and all the best!
